The 'Beamish Tramways' Electric Van chassis was built by Smith Electric Vehicles Ltd of Team Valley in Gateshead and the body by Northern Coachbuilders Ltd of Spital Tongues in Newcastle.

The model was built from a Classix Co-operative Bakery NCB Electric Van with its plastic chassis modified to use the Faller Mercedes Sprinter front axle, steering arm, rear wheels and the 1:48 ratio motor / gearbox which were all supplied by DCC Train Automation. The N sized battery holder, the normally closed reed switch and the on / off switch were from other sources.
