Gateshead No.77

No.77 was built in 1901 by Hurst Nelson & Co. of Motherwell for Newcastle Corporation where it was numbered 52. It was sold to Gateshead Tramway Co. in 1948 and re-numbered to No. 77 where it ran until 1951 when the system closed. It was saved for preservation by Sir George Foxwood-Smythe Snr.

The model was scratch built using a Bachmann Brill body, KW Sheffield body sides and parts from the scrap box and was originally fitted with a Bachmann PCC chassis which has been replaced by a scratch built chassis using Halling bogies and a central motor..
